Abstract
This paper presents a study about the role of television and the newspaper news during 1994 Brazilian presidential campaign. It analyses the content of the coverage on Cardoso's and Lula's candidacies, based on the "agenda-setting" and "newsmaking" theories. Moreover, it compares these contents with the tendencies of the opinion polls.
Resumo
Este trabalho apresenta um estudo sobre o noticiário brasileiro da televisão e dos jornais durante a campanha presidencial brasileira de 1994. Ele analisa o conteúdo da cobertura sobre as candidaturas de FHC e Lula, baseado na hipótese de “agenda-setting" e no "news making", ferramentas metodológicas competitivas da área da comunicação. Além disso, ele compara este conteúdo às tendências das pesquisas de opinião.
