This article is a study of evaluative and value orientations of Venezuelan citizens. It's based on the fact that Venezuela's image as a heaven of democracy in Latin America was seriously damaged in 1992 when two military coup d'etat attempts were frustrated, but their leaders were able to mobilize considerable public support.
In this article, the authors investigate the conceptions of democracy, citizenship, politics and social authoritarianism based on interviews with members of social movements, unions, class organizations and parties. The survey was conducted in Campinas – SP, in 1993
This paper presents a study about the role of television and the newspaper news during 1994 Brazilian presidential campaign. It analyses the content of the coverage on Cardoso's and Lula's candidacies, based on the "agenda-setting" and "newsmaking" theories. Moreover, it compares these contents with the tendencies of the opinion polls.
